Xavier Henry: The more I watch Henry, the more I become excited about him as a player. Says he will visit Miami next weekend (what Bomani calls the "of course I am going to go to Miami for free" trip) and then narrow his list to three or four schools. Still needs to work on his jump shot, but a great performance nonetheless. He made some nice passes (a couple of which were dropped) and scored generally at will. For brief spurts, he absolutely dominated the game, getting up and down the floor and beating all five defenders off the dribble. John Wall: Showcased once again why he is the best player in America.
All in all, it was a nearly perfect night for UK fans if you were watching.
Calipari's skills with point guards were highlighted with Wall and his ability to get the best out of Cousins was dissected. With Jimmy Dykes on the microphone, the announcers spoke at length about how Kentucky could become the preseason #1 team in America if both Wall and Henry join Patterson and Meeks in Lexington next season. With two Kentucky signees, Daniel Orton and Demarcus Cousins in the game, and two more considering the Cats playing as well, the topic of Kentucky basketball was a central theme throughout the night. If you watched ESPN tonight for the Jordan Game, you saw what could be described as nearly a two hour infommercial for Kentucky basketball. Two stories dominate the night, the Jordan Classic and whatever is going on with Rick Pitino. What a night! After a gorgeous day that saw nearly the entire state find itself at Keeneland or Thunder Over Louisville, I settled into what I thought would be a quiet night.not so much.
