If you get to Mellow Yellow, turn in any direction, and walk to the next restaurant. Personally, if I would’ve found 3 inches of soft hockey puck floating under a small slice of expired cheese, I doubt I’d eaten that much. My friend ate maybe 1 to 2 spoonfuls of her onion soup. The waffle fries were pretty good for the 2 minutes they stayed warm. The fish was okay, but the tartar sauce was just as bad as the dressing. The inch-thick piece of green pepper on top of the salad added nothing to the visual appeal. The blue cheese dressing was mayo with some kind of mold-looking stuff in it. The warm grapefruit juice tasted like it came out of a quart-size tin can made in 1958. When I opened the menu and it had pages and pages of items, I should’ve gotten up and left. When I met my friend there and saw only one group dining on a Friday night, I should’ve known to not enter. This is now the worst restaurant in Hyde Park. Sorry Mellow Yellow, you need a better chef/cook!!! Needless to say I will not be visiting this establishment every again and I’d advise anyone I know to do the same. I should’ve gone to McDonald’s and it would’ve been way better than this. Please tell me who serves potatoes without adding any salt and pepper? It was unfortunate that so people, because business was good for them that day, had to sit through and pay for so such a bland breakfast. I ordered the fried catfish, scrambled eggs, and potatoes. There wasn’t even one pinch of seasoning on anything. They should’ve just been closed along with everything else. They have obviously changed cooks since then and whomever was the cook on 12/ 25/ 2015 SHOULD BE FIRED!!! It was by far the worse breakfast I’ve ever had. It had been years since we’d eaten breakfast here but figured it was safe because we remembered how good the catfish breakfast was. We ended up here on Xmas day for breakfast because everything else in the area was closed. t that something… rewarding a rude ass waitress for a terrible damn job. 00 dollars with a gratuity already added… ain. Instantly I was pissed off when I tried ordering something and she says to me «you have to wait your turn»…I mean what the hell? What are the odds that we would get this rude ass bitch twice in a year with the same stank ass attitude? I promise you as God as my witness… if there is not another eatery anywhere else in Hyde Park, I damn sure will not come to Mellow Yellow and I might add our damn bill was 106. Two weeks ago, we went here again against my wishes I might add as I remembered what happen the last time and again (you can’t make this stuff up) we get Johanna. Well that was during the summer of last year. My family tried to calm me down by saying not to make a big deal about it and let is slide. She was so busy trying to show how much she could remember without writing that when she messed up «yes she did»…I was pissed off.
Then she refused to take out a piece of paper and write down each persons order. I say that to say that each time my large family showed up to get food and we got her, she made sarcastic comments to specific people in the group as a gesture to show «how cool she was» but I thought she was a little bit too comfortable speaking in this manner to all of us cause we damn sure did not know her from Adam. I am not sure what the hell is wrong with her, but as a 911 dispatcher, I think I know a little bit about documentation when gathering large amounts of information.
In a years time, she sucked 6 months ago and she sucked 2 weeks ago when my family came from out of town to visit. This is my second time getting «Johanna» as a waitress at Mellow Yellow.
